Our Team
The team is led by Derek Hopkins and James Anderson, both having a lifetime of professional experience in rural sector consultancy and investment management.
Derek and James are supported by professional management and administration staff and also collaborate with a range of specialist consultants in the farming and forestry sectors as well as industry leaders and research scientists.
Derek Hopkins
Executive Chairman
Derek Hopkins is one of the most experienced and knowledgeable operators in professional rural sector investment promotion in New Zealand.
Establishing the Franklin Group in 1982, Derek has successfully assisted a wide range of New Zealand and international clients to accumulate wealth and derive personal satisfaction from investment in the rural sector.
Derek has initiated several dairy conversion projects, forestry projects and greenfield kiwifruit development.
Derek completed a Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree at Massey University in 1968. Since graduating his professional career has been in the rural sector with a range of experience in consultancy, practical farming and rural sector investment promotion and management in New Zealand. As well as having experience in many of the farming regions in New Zealand he has worked in Australia, the South Pacific, United Kingdom and Asia.
James Anderson
Managing Director
James Anderson is a very experienced and widely respected agribusiness consultant.
In 2004, James established Anderson Consultancy, a professional farm management consultancy company offering clients tailored solutions to sustainable farm business profitability.
James completed a Bachelor of Agricultural Science (Honours) degree at Massey University in 1995. Since graduating, his professional career has been in the rural sector with a range of experience in consultancy, practical farming and agribusiness and horticultural management. In addition to providing consultancy services in most of the farming regions in New Zealand he also consultancy experience in Australia.
